Washington trades fifth-round pick to San Francisco for Derek Carrier
Washington has traded a conditional 2017 fifth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for tight Derek Carrier.
Washington was in need of some tight end help after losing both Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen to season-ending injuries. Carrier was an undrafted rookie free agent out of Beloit College back in 2012 and played in 16 games with the 49ers over two seasons.
Carrier was targeted 14 times last year with San Francisco, converting those targets into 8.65 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP). Washington acquires another physically-gifted tight end, but Carrier is entering an offense that finished 2014 ranked 25th in our schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play.
