Evan Engram will be tasked with traditional tight end role by Giants

New York Giants tight end/wide receiver Evan Engram will be taught to play as a traditional tight end, offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan said.

What It Means:

Blocking like an in-line tight end is something Engram very rarely did at Ole Miss, and also not something he's physically built for at 6'3", 234. "He is not a big wide receiver," Sullivan insisted. "We do feel comfortable about the things we want him to do when he has his hand in the ground." "Everything is going to be a challenge (for Engram). He is coming from more of a spread-type offense where he was off the ball a ton," head coach Ben McAdoo added. Engram's rookie prospects are a big gamble.

The Giants' tight ends generated the third-least Reception Net Expected Points per target in 2016 among the league's tight end position groups.
