Chargers' Jerry Attaochu working towards becoming every-down linebacker
San Diego Chargers linebacker Jerry Attaochu is working towards becoming an every-down linebacker, according to ESPN's Eric D. Williams.
Attaochu was drafted in the second round last year for his pass-rushing abilities, but with the departures of Jarret Johnson and Dwight Freeney, Attaochu has been asked to be on the field early in the downs, as well.
The Chargers were in the middle of the pack last year against the run, ranking 15th in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. That was coupled with a 24th-place finish in Defensive Passing NEP per play. In 11 games, Attaochu notched eight tackles and two sacks while forcing a fumble.
