Colts find running back of the future in Marlon Mack at 143

The Indianapolis Colts selected South Florida running back Marlon Mack with the 143rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

What It Means:

The 5'11", 213-pound Mack confirmed his plus athleticism in Indy, with 4.50-flat speed and a springy 10'5" broad jump. On college tape, Mack tried too often to bounce runs outside in persistent attempts to turn nothing into something. Still, his playmaking ability and versatility are undeniable. He has some Tevin Coleman to his game as a multi-phase weapon who is dangerous in open space.

In just three years at USF, Mack finished with 3,609 rushing yards, 4,107 all-purpose yards, and 33 touchdowns -- setting all-time records in each. He finished his career with an explosive 6.16 yards per carry average and 65 receptions. Mack won't unseat Frank Gore this year, but he should steal away some work from Robert Turbin and could be the starter by 2018.
