Lions take raw size prospect Kenny Golladay at 96th overall
The Detroit Lions selected Northern Illinois wide receiver Kenny Golladay with the 96th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
The 6'4", 218-pound Golladay spent two seasons at NIU after transferring from North Dakota, earning first-team All-MAC honors as a senior. Golladay's 4.50 40 with 35 1/2" vertical and 10'0" broad jumps at the Combine were more than adequate for his size. Golladay must improve his route technique at this higher level, but he is an intriguing prospect with sure hands and developmental upside.
Golladay totaled 2,285 receiving yards on 160 catches (14.3 yards per reception) and 18 touchdowns at Northern Illinois. Marvin Jones led the Lions' receivers last year with 0.78 Reception Net Expected Points per target -- the 14th-most among the 68 receivers with at least 75 targets in 2016.
