Dont'a Hightower could receive 'blockbuster' offer from Jets
The New York Jets are willing to make a "blockbuster" offer to free agent linebacker Dont'a Hightower, reports Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
Cimini says the Jets are making an "all-out blitz" for Hightower, which lines up in agreement with prior reports from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. The 27-year-old linebacker is looking for $12 million annually on the open market and while the Jets are apparently offering the most, Hightower's preference is to stay in New England.
The Jets' defense ranked 23rd in the league by opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play last season.
