Browns may be shifting sights to Washington's Kirk Cousins
The Cleveland Browns might be going after Washington franchise-tagged quarterback Kirk Cousins, ProFootballTalk reports based on a "growing belief" in league circles.
What It Means:
According to a league source, Cousins was hesitant to sign the franchise tag due to the possibility of being traded, "specifically" to Cleveland. The Browns have plenty of cap space and draft capital to make a deal happen, but they would need to come to terms on a long-term contract by July 15.
Cousins earned the sixth-most Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times in 2016. The Browns finished 26th in schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play.
