49ers plan to add to quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley
The San Francisco 49ers will "continue to look" for quarterbacks, head coach Kyle Shanahan said.
San Francisco filled the immediate void at quarterback by signing Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, but neither is the long-term answer. San Francisco could end up addressing the position in the draft, or they could bring in another stopgap option and bet on landing Kirk Cousins in free agency next spring. As it stands now, Hoyer looks like the Week 1 starter, but that could change.
Hoyer churned out 0.22 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back on 203 drop backs this year -- the eighth-best rate among quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times.
