Patriots won't engage in 'bidding war' for Martellus Bennett
The New England Patriots are not expected to get into a "bidding war" for impending free agent tight end Martellus Bennett, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.
Bennett was awesome for New England in his first year with the team, serving as both an excellent complement and replacement for Rob Gronkowski, but head coach Bill Belichick is unlikely to be willing to shell out the necessary dollars to bring the tight end back in 2017.
Among the 35 tight ends to see at least 40 targets this past season, Bennett ranked seventh in Reception Net Expected Points per target.
