Chiefs intend to bring back Eric Berry and Dontari Poe
The Kansas City Chiefs "absolutely hope" safety Eric Berry and nose tackle Dontari Poe return in 2017, owner Clark Hunt said.
"His role for the team in 2016, what he meant to the team and the leadership he provided, we certainly want Eric back." Berry has said he will not play under the franchise tag again in 2017, so the Chiefs will need to open the checkbook to keep him in town. About Poe, "I’ll just say generically, with all the guys we drafted, we want them all back," Hunt said. "That’s got to be balanced, at some point, with the cap.... but I certainly hope Dontari is back with us this year." With limited cap space, the Chiefs likely will not be able to re-sign both.
