Chargers hope to re-sign Danny Woodhead
The San Diego Chargers "hope" to re-sign running back Danny Woodhead.
Woodhead missed almost all of 2016 with a torn ACL, but the San Diego Union-Tribune reported in mid-January that his recovery was "six weeks ahead of schedule." Now 32 years old and coming off significant knee surgery, Woodhead should be cheap to retain. Melvin Gordon established himself as a capable every-down back in 2016, so Woodhead would likely return to a reduced role.
Woodhead saw just 19 rushes and 8 targets before succumbing to the injury in 2016, but generated 0.18 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt and 0.35 Reception NEP per target on them.
