49ers will use rotation of backs if Carlos Hyde sits
San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly said he'll feature a backfield committee if running back Carlos Hyde (shoulder) can't play Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Mike Davis and Shaun Draughn are the two primary options, while DuJuan Harris or Kelvin Taylor may be called up from the practice squad. When Hyde went down last week, Davis took the load, but only managed 13 yards on five carries. Davis looks like the best bet for a spot flex play, but Kelly is expected to roll with the hot hand.
According to numberFire's metrics, the Buccaneers rank just 26th in Defensive Adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points allowed per game.
