Washington signs free agent Donte Whitner
Washington has signed free agent safety Donte Whitner to a one-year deal.
The Cleveland Browns released the 31-year-old Whitener in the spring, and he is reported to have drawn interest from a handful of other teams around the league. He is expected to step in and start at strong safety ahead of David Bruton.
Washington ranks 29th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play, and upgrading from Bruton to Whitner should provide their defense with a boost.
