Tevin Coleman (sickle cell) might not play for Falcons Week 5

Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman (sickle cell trait) is unsure about his ability to play Week 5 against the Broncos in Denver.

What It Means:

"With my sickle cell, I have no idea if I’ll play there," Coleman said. "I really don’t know how I’ll feel or how it will be like. I’ve never been to Denver." Even if he does play in the elevated altitude at Mile High Stadium, Coleman would likely be on a snap count in an already imposing matchup. While with the Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2007, Ryan Clark, who also has the sickle cell trait, wound up losing his spleen and gall bladder after playing against the Broncos in Denver. He sat out two other games at Mile High, including a playoff contest.

Coleman turned eight carries into -2.48 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) during the Falcons' victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. His -0.05 Reception NEP were last on the team.
