Cardinals not planning on shadowing Buccaneers' Mike Evans

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans won't be shadowed by Arizona Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson all game in Week 2, Cardinals defensive coordinator James Bettcher said Thursday.

What It Means:

Bettcher explained, "there will be situations where Peterson stays with Evans, but times when he will not." He went on to add that coverage assignments will be "dictated with how the Buccaneers use both receivers," in regard to Evans and Vincent Jackson. Evans will still likely draw Peterson for the majority of the contest, but the Buccaneers would be wise to scheme some ways to match up the third-year wide receiver on rookie Brandon Williams, who was toasted by Chris Hogan for a 37-yard score in Sunday night's loss to the New England Patriots.

Among the 75 receivers to see at least five targets in Week 1, Evans finished seventh in Reception Net Expected Points per target. He currently projects as our fantasy WR6 for this weekend's slate of games. We expect him to catch 5 passes for 79 yards and 0.56 touchdowns.
