Jared Goff expected to spend extended time in backup role for Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is not expected to win the starting job anytime soon, according to ESPN Rams reporter Alden Gonzalez.
What It Means:
Goff will be a healthy scratch while Case Keenum starts under center for Week 1. The number-one overall pick is third on the depth chart behind Sean Mannion.
Our models account for Goff eventually earning some playing time, but we project him to throw only 140 passes this season, compared to 526 for Keenum. On those attempts, we project Goff for 88 completions, 1000 yards, 5.31 touchdowns and 3.89 interceptions.
