Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning working on rollouts in training camp

Consistent with what was speculated earlier in the offseason, Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is being used as a mobile quarterback in training camp.

What It Means:

Manning joked, "I throw well on the run for a guy that doesn't run well. I throw better on the run than some guys who run well." It's likely true, but this will be a pretty significant wrinkle in the Denver offense this year. The team is also looking to continue its balanced approach. Denver ranked just 19th in pass-to-run ratio last season.

Manning was the second-most productive quarterback in the league last year, according to our Passing Net Expected Points metric, which indicates how many points above expectation level a player provided for his team. He'll probably find a way to be one of the most prolific passers yet again, even if things look different than they have in recent seasons. Our algorithms project him to record 4,823 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
