Dolphins won't rule out Jelani Jenkins (knee) for Week 1
Miami Dolphins weak-side linebacker Jelani Jenkins (knee scope) has not been ruled out for Week 1, according to head coach Adam Gase.
It's surprising, as Jenkins went under the knife only 10 days ago. "I don't want to jinx myself," Gase said. "He's on a good track right now." It's almost certain that Jenkins won't be in there, and this is no more than coach-speak. Jenkins will be most missed in coverage against the Seattle Seahawks.
Little-known name Neville Hewitt is Jenkins' backup if he can't go. We currently project Jenkins for 6.76 tackles and 0.16 passes defended in Week 1 if he suits up.
