Cowboys will not sign Austin Davis
The Dallas Cowboys will not sign free agent quarterback Austin Davis, ESPN’s Todd Archer reports.
The Cowboys are looking for an experienced quarterback to backup Dak Prescott while starter Tony Romo (back) is out, but Davis is not that guy. Dallas could look to the wire after final cuts, or they could attempt to trade for a lower-tier backup like the Kansas City Chiefs’ Aaron Murray. Jameill Showers is the Cowboys’ only other healthy quarterback on the roster.
Our algorithms project Prescott for 1,535 passing yards, 7.85 touchdowns and 6.06 interceptions on 227 passing attempts, as well as 102 rush yards and 0.76 touchdowns on 23 attempts this season. This is based on Prescott starting six games, but this is a very fluid situation, depending on Romo's health.
