Ezekiel Elliott not in "football shape" for Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott is not yet in "football shape," believes Bryan Broaddus of Cowboys.com.
While this isn't what anyone wants to hear with Week 1 rapidly approaching, it does make sense, considering that Elliott missed a beginning portion of training camp with a hamstring issue. The fourth overall pick only resumed being a full participant in practice about 10 days ago. Working as an every-down back on the Cowboys' first two offensive possessions in Thursday night's exhibition, Elliott shined with 48 yards on seven rushes against the Seattle Seahawks' first-team defense. The rookie did appear to be winded after a few of his runs, with Broaddus adding that Elliott "can run better" than he did versus Seattle.
Our models have Elliott as the eighth-ranked running back in fantasy football, projecting him for 242 carries, 1,061 yards and 8.14 rushing touchdowns as well as 43 receptions for 319 yards and 1.80 receiving touchdowns.
