Jared Abbrederis could be Packers' breakout wide receiver

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis will be the team's "breakout" player this season, ESPN reporter Rob Demovsky predicts.

What It Means:

Abbrederis is listed as Randall Cobb's backup on the Packers' depth chart, suggesting he's no deeper than the fourth receiver. According to Demovsky, Abbrederis has enjoyed a "strong showing" at training camp. With Jeff Janis' abysmal camp and broken hand, Abbrederis is competing with Davante Adams for third receiver duties. The 25-year-old wideout's biggest strength is running smooth routes and versatility to play both inside and outside.

Our models expect both Janis and Abbrederis to remain on the outside looking in on the Packers' offense. We currently project Janis to have just 3 catches for 38 yards and 0.25 touchdowns this season. Abbrederis isn't much higher, with 6 catches for 64 yards and 0.23 touchdowns. Davante Adams, for better or worse, seems to be pretty locked into the third receiver role.
