Saints believe Sheldon Rankins' injury is not season-ending
New Orleans Saints rookie defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins' broken fibula "clearly is not gonna be season-ending at all," head coach Sean Payton confirmed.
Rankins had surgery on Tuesday and is only expected to miss two months. He should be back to practice before the end of October. The unnerving addition to this story, however, is that Rankins revealed he suffered the same injury in his other leg in high school.
Our algorithms projected Rankins for 46.77 tackles and 4.33 sacks prior to this injury. Nick Fairley will be the primary playing-time benefactor.
