Dorsey appears to believe Berry will sign his franchise tender and rejoin the team prior to the beginning of the regular season. The 27-year-old remains without a contract, however, as the two sides were unable to come to a long-term agreement prior to the July 15 deadline. If/when Berry signs the tender, it will be a one-year deal, paying him $10.8 million in 2016.

2015's Comeback Player of the Year, Berry had 55 tackles, 10 passes defended and 2 interceptions as he helped lead a Chiefs defense that ranked fifth in the NFL in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
