Spencer Ware catching passes out of backfield for Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware "caught lots of passes in OTA's," the Kansas City Star's Terez Paylor reports.
This is potentially bad news for speed back Charcandrick West, who seemed more likely than Ware to handle passing-down work when starter Jamaal Charles needs a breather. ESPN's Adam Teicher already labeled Ware the second-string back behind Charles, and it looks like that could be the case in the passing game as well. Ware is a much better late-round flier than West.
Among backs with at least 50 carries last season, Ware ranked second in Rushing Net Expected Points per play while West checked in 38th. Our algorithms project Ware as the 91st-ranked fantasy running back going into training camp, however; West sits at 63rd.
