Free agent cornerback Charles Tillman retires from NFL
Former Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers cornerback Charles Tillman announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons.
Tillman was drafted 35th overall by the Bears in 2003, playing his first 12 seasons in Chicago. He inked a one-year deal with Carolina and went to the Super Bowl last season. Tillman turned 35 back in February but suffered a torn ACL in Week 17 last year and was questionable to be ready for the start of 2016 even before deciding on retirement.
He recorded 38 career interceptions, but was probably best known for his "Peanut Punch" with 44 career forced fumbles. The 2015 Panthers ranked 11th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points per play last season.
