Justin Durant

Cowboys sign linebacker Justin Durant

The Dallas Cowboys signed linebacker Justin Durant to a one-year contract.

What It Means:

Durant was a member of the Cowboys from 2013 to 2014, missing 10 games with a torn biceps in his second year of the stint before playing 661 mostly ineffective snaps for the Atlanta Falcons last season. He provides depth with starter Rolando McClain suspended, but won't be immediately sliding into a starting job. Veteran Andrew Gachkar and project second-year Mark Nzeocha are his main competition for starting reps.

Prior to his suspension, our algorithms projected McClain for 102.67 tackles, 2.13 sacks and 2.96 passes defensed this upcoming season. The Cowboys ranked 19th in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play last season.
