Barkevious Mingo

Barkevious Mingo is a man without a position in Browns' defense

Cleveland Browns outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo is without a true position right now, and it is "hard to see" where he fits on defense, the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto said.

What It Means:

New defensive coordinator Ray Horton said he would like to get Mingo involved more after being hired, but the Browns declined Mingo's fifth-year option in May and added Emmanuel Ogbah in the second round of the NFL Draft. Mingo did have the best season of his career under Horton as a rookie, but he has just two sacks in the two seasons since.

The 2015 Browns ranked 21st in the league in Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) and 32nd in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP as a unit. Our algorithms are not optimistic about Mingo; we project him for just 9.37 tackles and 0.33 sacks this season.
