Falcons starting Taylor Heinicke in Week 9, Desmond Ridder on the bench
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Taylor Heinicke will start Week 9's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Heinicke took over for Desmond Ridder during Week 8's loss to the Tennessee Titans and will remain the starter for Sunday's clash with Minnesota. Ridder is reportedly "cleared" and "will be available", so this decision is not related to any injuries. In Week 8, Heinicke completed 12 of 21 attempts for 175 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0 interceptions. The switch to Heinicke should provide a boost for all of Atlanta's pass catchers.
The Falcons are 4.5-point favorites over the Vikings in Week 9. Their implied team total of 21.0 points is the 11th-highest team total on Sunday's main slate, according to numberFire's DFS Heat Map. Heinicke's Week 9 salary is $6,200.
