Zach Evans expected to start Week 7 for Rams

Los Angeles Rams sixth-round rookie running back Zach Evans is expected to start Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, per Sarah Barshop of ESPN.

What It Means:

Evans is the next man up if Kyren Williams (ankle) and Ronnie Rivers (knee) are both unavailable. Royce Freeman will likely be promoted from the practice squad to help out in the backfield, but Evans is expected to lead the way. "Obviously you saw Zach Evans get the first carries," Rams head coach Sean McVay said after Sunday's Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals. "We've got Royce Freeman on our practice squad, and there'll be some different things that we're in the midst of working through right now." The sixth-round pick logged six snaps on offense and rushed 4 times for 10 yards against the Cardinals.

Evans is the RB19 in numberFire's Week 7 rankings and our models project him for 9.8 FanDuel points, 13.5 carries, 53.5 rushing yards, 1.3 receptions, and 9.3 receiving yards. The Rams have the second-ranked adjusted run offense in the NFL, according to numberFire’s metrics, while the Steelers are ranked sixth-worst against the run and allow the seventh-most FanDuel points per game to running backs.
