San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) is considered to be day-to-day ahead of the team's Week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns.
What It Means:
Mitchell has been managing a knee injury since Week 2 of the season and has now missed 3 of the 49ers' 5 games. It seems like he could be back for Week 6, though, and would be likely to resume the change-of-pace role behind Christian McCaffrey.
Mitchell has had a hard time finding opportunities for the 49ers this year between his injury and McCaffrey dominating the backfield opportunities in San Francisco. The team has mentioned wanting to get McCaffrey more rest, but until Mitchell gets healthy it's hard to see them taking the star off the field for players like Tyrion Davis-Price or Jordan Mason.
