Matt LaCosse getting Giants' first-team tight end snaps

New York Giants second-year tight end Matt LaCosse has been working with the first-team offense at OTA's.

What It Means:

LaCosse was raved about by TE's coach Kevin Gilbride Jr. at this time last year, but the undrafted free agent out of Illinois suffered a hamstring injury in training camp and missed much of the year. Beat writer Jordan Raanan calls LaCosse "already the best blocking tight end on the roster," and also notes he's "consistently been making plays" while receiving a large chunk of the first-team reps.

LaCosse caught all three of his targets last year for 1.47 Reception Net Expected Points. It's certainly possible he steals some looks from Will Tye (62 targets) or Larry Donnell (41 targets).
