Patriots' Malcolm Butler skipping OTAs, wants raise
New England Patriots contract-year defensive back Malcolm Butler is skipping OTAs and reportedly wants a new deal.
Butler is scheduled to make just $600,000 this season after earning $510,000 in 2015. He'll be a restricted free agent next March. According to ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss, Butler "plans to push for an adjustment" to his contract before the season. Skipping voluntary workouts is the first step in his plan.
The Patriots' defense ranked 13th in the league, according to numberFire's metrics.
