Update: MRI confirms torn MCL for Falcons' Kyle Pitts
Ian Rapoport reports that Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has torn his MCL and could require surgery.
It was initially believed that the star tight end suffered just a sprain to his MCL in the Falcons' Week 11 win over the Chicago Bears, but an MRI earlier today revealed that Pitts tore the ligament when he took a big hit to his knee. Rapoport notes that Pitts could require surgery, but will seek a second opinion before making a decision.
This is certainly a more serious injury than was initially believed, and it now looks like Pitts could miss substantial time, if not the remainder of the season. If he does miss time, expect 2022 first-round pick Drake London to get a bump in usage in the Falcons' low-volume passing offense.
