Packers' Robert Tonyan (ACL) could begin season on PUP
The Athletic's Matt Schneidman believes Green Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan will open the 2022 season on the PUP list.
Schneidman notes that Tonyan is still recovering after tearing his ACL in Week 8 of the 2021 season and has yet to resume practicing. With the new changes to the NFL's PUP list, Tonyan would have to miss at least the first four games of the season if he does start on the PUP.
The Packers' pass-catcher depth chart is as wide open as any in the league after the departure of Davante Adams this offseason, and Tonyan is one of the few players on the current roster who has demonstrated some rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the past. He is numberFire's TE15 for the 2022 season, and could be a worth a late-round flier in redraft leagues this year if he can get cleared to return before Week 1.
