Baker Mayfield doesn't appear at Browns' voluntary workouts

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield did not appear at the start of the team's voluntary workouts Tuesday afternoon.

What It Means:

When the Browns decided to go out and acquire Deshaun Watson, it was clear Mayfield's status would be in flux. There have been reports over the last few days that the Carolina Panthers - currently with Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker on the depth chart - could be candidates to acquire the former No. 1 overall pick. But for now, it seems as though Mayfield will not be reporting to the Browns anytime soon. Jacoby Brissett would currently be in line to start if Watson gets suspended from the league.

In 14 games last season, Mayfield completed 253-of-418 (60.5 percent) of his passes for 3,010 yards with 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
