Dolphins re-sign Matt Hazel

The Miami Dolphins re-signed exclusive rights free agent wide receiver Matt Hazel to a one-year, $525,000 contract.

What It Means:

Hazel appeared in five games last season, but he didn't catch a pass. He had 14 catches, 204 yards and one score last preseason and is back to compete for a job.

Dolphins' quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the whole Miami offense is expected to take a step forward in 2016 under new coach Adam Gase. Among the 46 quarterbacks who dropped back at least 100 times in 2015, Tannehill's 0.05 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back was just 32nd. He took a big step back from his 2014 per-drop back value (0.07) in a fraught year for the Dolphins' organization.
