Saints' Jameis Winston out for 2021 with torn ACL
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston will miss the rest of the 2021 season with a torn ACL, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
What It Means:
Winston suffered the injury in Week 8 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Rapoport says his MCL is also damaged. Taysom Hill hasn't played since suffering a concussion in Week 5, but he will likely take over as the Saints' starting quarterback moving forward. Trevor Siemian will get the nod in Week 9 versus the Atlanta Falcons if Hill remains sidelined.
Hill started four games at quarterback for the Saints in 2020 and averaged 28.5 pass attempts for 208.5 yards with 9.8 carries for 52.3 yards rushing yards. Among the 44 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last year, Hill ranked 28th in Passing Net Expected Points per drop back (0.10).
