Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffers ankle sprain in preseason clash with Cardinals
Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered an ankle sprain during Friday's preseason clash with the Arizona Cardinals.
Edwards-Helaire is dealing with a right ankle sprain, but according to Andy Reid, it "doesn't look like a high-ankle sprain". Reid said Edwards-Helaire's ankle is "tender", and the team will "double-check" it to ensure he avoided a more serious injury. If Edwards-Helaire did indeed avoid a high-ankle sprain, that would be excellent news for his Week 1 availability against the Cleveland Browns. Expect more updates during the week as Kansas City approaches their final preseason game of the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, August 27th. If Edwards-Helaire were to miss any time, Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon would be next in line for touches in the Chiefs' backfield.
Assuming he's fully healthy, Edwards-Helaire's Week 1 projection includes 65.5 rushing yards, 26.0 receiving yards, 0.69 touchdowns, and 15.1 FanDuel points. His salary is $6,800 and he is the RB14 in numberFire's Week 1 projections.
