Mike Williams should see 'a lot of targets' in Chargers' new offense
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams will play the X receiver spot in offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi's scheme.
The X spot is the role that Michael Thomas played for the New Orleans Saints in Lombardi's offense. Daniel Popper of The Athletic believes "that should mean a lot of targets" for Williams. Lombardi predicted earlier this offseason that Williams will produce "nice numbers" in the new offense. The Chargers still have Keenan Allen in tow, but Hunter Henry's departure and a new offensive scheme, should lead to a more voluminous role for Williams.
Williams is currently the WR33 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 102.9 targets, 59.9 receptions, 952.4 yards, and 5.9 touchdowns.
