Steelers' Martavis Bryant begins serving indefinite ban

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant has been suspended by the NFL for a minimum of one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

What It Means:

He has foregone an appeal. Bryant's agent has already said his client is headed to rehab, and that he's dealing with depression. "This is the biggest cry for help I've ever seen, and that hurts," Bryant's rep said. The gifted 24-year-old wideout can apply for reinstatement next off-season. As Justin Blackmon and Daryl Washington have proven, it can never be assumed players serving indefinite bans will return, but Bryant is certainly worth holding onto in dynasty leagues. His upside is simply too immense.

This news has rippling effects in fantasy. Ostensibly, the values of Markus Wheaton, Ladarius Green and Sammie Coates all receive a boost. As for Bryant, his dynasty value will mirror that of Josh Gordon's over the past 12 months. He can likely be nabbed for cheap now, but his price tag will rise as the end of his suspension draws near. Among wide receivers with at least 80 targets in 2015, Bryant finished 36th in Reception NEP per target.
