Baltimore slaps franchise tag on kicker Justin Tucker
The Baltimore Ravens assigned the franchise tag to kicker Justin Tucker.
The two sides were unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal this week, so general manager Ozzie Newsome is getting it out of the way ahead of Tuesday's deadline. If they can't reach a deal by July 15, Tucker will earn $4.5 million under the tag and be in line to test the market in 2017. He's 26 years-old.
Tucker made 82.5 percent of his field goal attempts this season, but all but one of his misses was from 50-plus yards. He was also perfect from the new extra point distance, a feat only five kickers managed this year.
