49ers ‘hope’ to have Tevin Coleman (knee) Sunday

The San Francisco 49ers are "hopeful" running back Tevin Coleman (knee) will be available for Sunday's Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks, per general manager John Lynch.

What It Means:

Coleman handled a heavy workload in practice on Thursday. Lynch said Coleman's status for Week 8 will depend on how his knee responds today. He could wind up being the 49ers' lead back ahead of Jerick McKinnon and JaMycal Hasty while Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. are sidelined with ankle sprains.

Coleman rushed 18 times for 30 yards and caught 3 passes (4 targets) for 34 yards in the first two games before landing on injured reserve. He ranks last in Rushing Net Expected Points per carry among the 81 running backs with at least 15 carries this season. The Seahawks have the No. 6 rushing defense in numberFire's advanced team rankings.
