Jordan Reed (knee) designated to return for 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers designated tight end Jordan Reed (knee) to return from injured reserve.
Reed will have a chance to play Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday if he makes it through the practice week without any setbacks. The 30-year-old tight end hasn't played since Week 3. He totaled 14 targets over his last two games before the injury, but that was with George Kittle sidelined. Reed is unlikely to have much of a role if Kittle is healthy.
Reed only drew 2 targets and recorded a 16.1 percent offensive snap share in Week 1 when both he and Kittle were active. The Seahawks have allowed the most passing yards per game (368.7) but they've actually allowed the third-fewest receptions (19) to tight ends.
