Buccaneers' Mike Evans bothered by ankle injury

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is dealing with an ankle injury, per head coach Bruce Arians.

What It Means:

Arians said all three of Evans, Chris Godwin (hamstring), and Scotty Miller (hip) have been playing at less than full health. “They’re hurting,” Arians said of his ailing receivers. "They’re playing, but they’re nowhere near full speed. I think we can get better and better. ... Offensively we’ve been struggling all year with injuries. I wanna be able to make that playoff push with whoever’s available.” Evans estimated that he was at about 80 percent before Sunday's win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He then caught just 2 passes on 2 targets for 37 yards. Godwin has been ruled out for Week 8 against the New York Giants on Monday night after he fractured his index finger last game. Assuming Evans continues to play through his injury, he should see an uptick in targets without Godwin available in an advantageous matchup.

Evans is the WR11 in numberFire's Week 8 fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 13.2 FanDuel points and he has a salary of $7,100 on the main slate. Evans has averaged 21.2 PPR points with a 22.8 percent target share in three games without Chris Godwin this year, compared to just 7.3 PPR points and an 8.8 percent target share in four games with Godwin. The Giants have the No. 28 pass defense in numberFire's advanced team rankings.
