Giovani Bernard on track to start for Bengals Week 7

Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

What It Means:

As a result, Giovani Bernard is now expected to take over as the Bengals' lead back. Samaje Perine will be Bernard's backup and Trayveon Williams is expected to be active for the first time in his career. Bernard averaged 65.0 yards on 13.5 carries and added 26.0 receiving yards on 4.5 receptions while totaling 3 touchdowns in two games back in 2018 when Mixon was unavailable. The Browns are allowing the fourth-fewest rushing yards per game (94.0).

Bernard is now the RB30 in numberFire's Week 7 fantasy rankings with Mixon ruled out. Our models project him to score 8.7 FanDuel points and he has a salary of $4,800, third-lowest among the top-40 backs in our weekly rankings. He is adding the second-most Rushing Net Expected Points per carry (0.34) this season while Mixon (-0.09) ranks 69th out of 88 backs with at least 10 carries. The Browns have the 19th rush defense in numberFire's advanced team rankings.
