Chargers' Austin Ekeler (knee/hamstring) expected to miss multiple weeks
Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee/hamstring injury he suffered during Week 4's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Ekeler hyperextended his knee and injured his hamstring on Sunday, forcing him to exit the game in the first quarter. According to Adam Schefter, he was seen after the game with crutches and a brace. Ekeler will have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury on Monday. With Ekeler expected to miss time, the Chargers backfield will be led by rookie Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson. The Chargers face the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
With Ekeler ruled out on Sunday, Joshua Kelley led the backfield with 9 carries to Justin Jackson's 6. Kelley also out targeted Jackson in the passing game, 3 to 2 but lost a critical fumble near the end of the second half that sparked the Buccaneers comeback.
