Jets' La'Mical Perine (ankle) limited Thursday
New York Jets running back La'Mical Perine was a limited participant at practice on Thursday.
With Le'Veon Bell on injured reserve for his own injury, the Jets' backfield is severely shorthanded. Frank Gore is the starter for Week 2's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but beyond that, it's a mix of Josh Adams and Kalen Ballage among healthy options. If the rookie Perine can get healthy enough to make his season debut, he could have a chance to take charge of the backfield.
The Jets are facing a 49ers defense that allowed 0.32 Adjusted Defensive Rushing Net Expected Points per play, which was the 3rd-most in the league in Week 1.
