49ers' Deebo Samuel (foot) dealt with soreness last week
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that wide receiver Deebo Samuel (foot) suffered a setback in his recovery process prior to the team placing him on the injured reserve.
Samuel reportedly felt a worsening soreness in his injured foot after performing some running drills, and requested that the team place him on the injured reserve. The NFL's injured reserve system for 2020 will allow Samuel to return for Week 4, and Shanahan reiterated that the team is expecting him back on that timetable.
Samuel's return can't come quick enough, as the team was already dealing with an unenviable number of injuries to their pass-catchers prior to George Kittle's (knee sprain) and Richie James' (hamstring) injuries on Sunday. He should walk right back into as much volume as he can handle in Week 4.
