Chiefs' Darrel Williams emerges as primary backup

Kansas City Chiefs running back Darrel Williams will be Clyde Edwards-Helaire's direct backup to start the season, according to The Athletic's Nate Taylor.

What It Means:

Williams appears to have beaten out DeAndre Washington for the backup gig. Taylor says that Williams has been "exceptional at every task in the offense" and superior to his peers in pass-protection. Williams cleared 100 yards on 14 touches in Week 3 last year but he was otherwise mostly quiet.

Per Fantasy Football Calculator, Williams' current ADP is outside of the first 14 rounds.
