Uncertainty surrounding the future of Oakland's Mario Edwards

Oakland Raiders defensive end/outside linebacker Mario Edwards' neck injury has sparked questions about his future, with CSN Bay Area reporting there is "still lots of uncertainty" surrounding Edwards.

What It Means:

Edwards suffered a neck injury in December that revealed a pre-existing, "possibly genetic" issue. Asked if Edwards' career was in jeopardy, general manager Reggie McKenzie responded, "I don't even want to think along those lines."

The No. 35 overall pick of May's draft, Edwards had a strong rookie season, making an impression as both a run stopper and pass rusher. He made 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2015. Oakland finished 22nd in Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
